MSPA Statement on the Anti-Transgender Executive Orders

February 15th, 2025

Dear MSPA Community:

We write to you with heavy hearts as the executive actions of the past few weeks target our community, particularly our transgender, intersex, and nonbinary siblings. These policies are not just political decisions—they are real attacks on our rights, our healthcare, our youth, our service members, and our human dignity.

Scientists, healthcare professionals, and most importantly, those of us with real lived experience know that gender-affirming care saves lives. We know that Transgender, Intersex, and Queer people belong in all spaces and no amount of political maneuvering or legislative cruelty can erase us.

MSPA stands unequivocally against these orders. We reaffirm our commitment to support LGBTQIA+ medical students through community and connection. With this letter you will find resources for teaching LGBTQ+ health, caring for yourself, learning about anti-trans legislation, contacting your representatives, and much more. Additionally, we are actively planning several social, educational, and advocacy events to bring our community together in the coming months. Please see the preliminary schedule on the next page and look forward to more details in the coming weeks.

We invite you to reach out for support, to share additional resources, to get involved with our efforts, or for any reason you see fit. You are not alone. We’ve got you.

With love and pride,
The Medical Student Pride Alliance National Leadership Team
